The Decline of Science
Catt
was extensively published in peer reviewed journals until 1967, ending with his
IEEE 20pp paper "Crosstalk"
, which is unknown to all accredited expert professors and text book writers
today, fifty years later. Professor Rosenstark told me he regretted not having read my
article before he wrote his book. (Peer reviewed journals are published for
“publish or perish” promotion or prestige reasons, not for communicating
science. They are rarely read. The
editor of a major peer reviewed journal told me he estimated that a peer
reviewed article was on average read four times, but only 1.5 times if it
contained much mathematics. However, Catt can be safely ignored, and
should be ignored, because he does not publish in peer reviewed journals. 1 , 2 )
During
the next 50 years, all attempts by Catt to publish in peer reviewed journals
throughout the world were rejected. 1 . He was
however massively published in non-peer reviewed journals, including every
monthly issue of Wireless
World ,
circulation then 60,000, for ten years – a total of six million issues.
However, no text book writer or professor would read or comment on non-peer reviewed
literature, or at least admit to doing so. This included me, a self respecting
Cambridge engineer, until, in desperation, I myself published in Wireless World.
In
his novel "L'anomalia"
, Massimo, who my translator Monica.pasin@outlook.com says represents its author Massimiliano Pieraccini,
says;

Extraordinarily,
Pieraccini, with 60 peer reviewed articles already to his name, gave his continuing “publish or perish”
priority over what
he himself said, and published 61st and 62nd peer
reviewed articles on what he misnamed “Catt’s anomaly”. 1 , 2 , 3 . Obviously, he
could not afford to spend much time on this. His articles confused "The Catt Question"
, which was a request for clarification of classical theory, with Catt’s own
theories, and wrongly asserted that what he called “Catt’s anomaly” said there
was a flaw in classical theory. “The Catt Question” actually discusses the
contradictory versions of classical theory by accredited experts. Pieraccini
“answers” “The Catt Question”, in the process contradicting Sir Michael Pepper
, knighted for services to physics, whom Pieraccini two paragraphs earlier
calls “a renowned physicist”
One
editor, Gary Williams of the London Institute of Physics, refused to publish my
reply, and then refused to publish 30 words by me giving the hyperlink to my
reply. The other editor, of the New York IEEE with 500,000 members, Professor
Mahta Moghaddam, with 100 peer reviewed articles to her name, told me she would
publish my reply up to a maximum of one page, and with it Pieraccini’s reply to
my reply. Unfortunately in April she gave Pieraccini only three weeks to reply.
At end May I asked her to extend Pieraccini’s time to two months, because we
needed a considered reply.
Perhaps
because I found the Pieraccini articles “Catt’s anomaly” so confusing, I only
recently found that he falsifies the central point of my 50 years of work on
electromagnetic theory. I follow in the tradition of Heaviside’s historic
statement "We reverse this .... "
, the field causes the current, not the current the field. A Google search for "we
reverse this" + heaviside + catt gives 200 hits. Pieraccini
says Catt says the opposite; “ Catt probably misinterprets the concepts
of charge and field. The “Anomaly” is there because in his view, currents are
the source of the TEM wave, and should be there before the wave they cause”.
Please would Professor Mahta Moghaddam, Editor of the IEEE journal, let me
publish a correction of Pieraccini in her journal?
I
very much hope Pieraccini and his co-author Selleri, and also editors Professor
Moghaddam and Gary Williams, will add unedited comment at the end of this www
page.

è stato ampiamente pubblicato in riviste fino al 1967, per finire con la sua
carta IEEE 20pp "Crosstalk", che è sconosciuto a tutti i professori

Pieraccini, con 60 articoli peer reviewed già al suo nome, ha dato la sua
priorità continua "pubblicare o perire" su quello che lui stesso ha
detto, e ha pubblicato articoli 61 ° e 62 ° peer reviewed su quello che
misnamed "anomalia di Catt". Ovviamente, non poteva permettersi di
spendere molto tempo su questo. I suoi articoli confuso "Il Catt
domanda", che era una richiesta di chiarimenti della teoria classica, con
proprie teorie di Catt, ed erroneamente affermato che quello che ha definito
"anomalia di Catt" ha detto che c'era una falla nella teoria

Forse
perché ho trovato gli articoli Pieraccini "anomalia di Catt" così
confuso, ho da poco scoperto che falsifica il punto centrale dei miei 50 anni
di lavoro sulla teoria elettromagnetica. Seguo nella tradizione di
dichiarazione storico di Heaviside "Noi invertire questo ....", il
campo fa sì che la corrente, non la corrente di campo. Una ricerca su Google
per "noi invertire questa" + Heaviside + catt dà 200 colpi. Pieraccini
dice Catt dice il contrario; "Catt probabilmente interpreta i concetti di
carica e di campo. L ' "anomalia" è lì perché a suo avviso, le
correnti sono la fonte delle onde TEM, e dovrebbe essere lì prima che l'onda
che provocano ". Si prega avrebbe professor Mahta Moghaddam, redattore
della rivista IEEE, mi permetta di pubblicare una rettifica di Pieraccini nel
suo diario?

Moghaddam e Gary Williams, aggiungerò commento inedito alla fine di questa

and Fabio go together to check a hotel called Torri Pepoli. The receptionist maintains Giulia has not checked
in at the hotel. On their way out, they meet scientist Wheeler and have a chat
with him about riddles in physics. Massimo quotes Khun
and says that sometimes it takes a revolutionary to solve such riddles by
changing rules, as did great scientists such as Copernicus, Maxwell, Einstein. Fabio adds Catt’s name
to the list (“electronic engineer who challenged classic electromagnetism”).
Massimo says he might be right, but also points out that there is a very fine
boundary between revolutionary scientist and crank.
