The
canaries sing.
Dear
Tony,
Thank
goodness three people broke the academic code of omerta to deliver enough copy
for us plebs to get to the bottom of the evolved mess.
Nobel
Prize winner Brian Josephson was silenced because he broke the rules, and tried
to bring the paranormal into science. He worked for Howie in the Cavendish, and
Howie removed all Brian's students.
Howie FRS
went on to glitter even more, getting CBE and the rest. Pepper, who also worked
for Howie, was also manipulated into writing to Catt about cattq,
and wrote rubbish in 1993, then going silent for 27 years - omerta.

A series
of accidents caused them to breach omerta, and sing like canaries.
Brian was
told he would not know the relative phase of E and H in a TEM wave.
He
replied;

If my
memory serves me right, they are in phase with each other. That’s for the
most basic case however, and people have been talking of coaxial cables which
can be more complicated owing to the number of modes. – Brian

But the
relative phase of E and H is at the very core of electromagnetic theory, and so
at the core of the whole of science. Here we have a Nobel prizewinner
uncertain about it. (Admittedly blighted because he tried to bring the
paranormal into science, for which crime Howie removed all his
students.). Einstein and Feynman had to be uncertain about it. Because if
E and H are in phase, they cannot cause each other. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/x0102em.htm ; http://www.ivorcatt.org/99mdwalt.htm
http://www.chaos.org.uk/~eddy/physics/Maxwell.html "The great triumph of Einstein's work springs from his
understanding that Maxwell's description of electrodynamics was right." (But Maxwell, following Faraday, wrongly thought E
and H cause each other. Faraday did not discover electromagnetic induction. He
discovered crosstalk. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/x29j.htm )

That is correct. Your problem lies in turning statements of the form A =
B to ‘A is the cause of B’ which is more than the equation is actually
saying. It is just a piece of maths and that is how physics has been done
from the time of Newton.
